Free Phone Help for Travelers in Italy
Published on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 by

Easy Italia, a new, free phone service provided by the Italian government for foreign visitors in Italy, offers tourist information, translation, advice on travelers’ rights, updates on local and national emergencies,  information for disabled travel and much more.

The translation help offered by Easy Italia might be the most useful part of the service.  Stuck somewhere and no one speaks English and you don’t speak Italian? Call Easy Italia and have the person who answers translate by passing the phone back and forth.

Live help is available (in a number of languages including English daily) from 9 a.m. to 10 pm (from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., voicemail is available in English and Italian with a return call promised within 30 minutes). During the months of July, August and December, the number will be answered live until 10 p.m.

The Easy Italia numbers are:

  • 039.039.039  (from a cell phone in Italy OR add 39 to the beginning of the sequence to call from outside Italy)
  • 800.000.039 (toll-free from landlines and public phones in Italy)

There’s also a free Easy Italia app for iPhone/iPad.
