After nine years, The Tuscan Sun Festival is moving from Cortona to Florence where it will hold its 10th edition, June 11 to 18, 2012. The festival brings together music, art and film, and this year in new venues including Teatro della Pergola, Palazzo Strozzi and Nuovo Teatro dell’ Opera. The Tuscan Sun Festival has been described by The Independent (U.K.) as one of the 10 best festivals in Europe.

This year’s line-up of artists includes  soprano Angela Gheorghiu, flautist Sir James Galway, mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, violinist Nigel Kennedy, cellist Nina Kotova, pianist Valentina Lisitsa, pianist Ivo Pogorelich, actor John Malkovich, directors Gabriele Lavia and Maurizio Scaparro as well as violinist Maxim Vengerov.

The Tuscan Sun Festival will be the launch point for  Tribeca Firenze through the screenings of world-class films at Florence’s Odeon Cinema in Palazzo Strozzi. The European premiere of “The Zen of Bennett” with Tony Bennett and his son Danny Bennett will take place at the festival. Actor John Malkovich will present several of his films and perform in an event at the Teatro della Pergola.

There’s also a culinary/wine focus to the festival.  Five premiere Italian chefs will share their unconventional creations with diners at five theme lunches at the restaurant of J.K. Place and the Four Seasons Hotel.
