Cruise Italy with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi

So you’re planning an Italian cruise, how cool would it be to be joined by the controversial but always entertaining Silvio Berlusconi, the former prime minister of Italy? Guests on the MSC Divina, cruising from Venice along the Adriatic, will have the unique chance to meet Berlusconi, a former cruise line crooner himself!

The 75-year-old billionaire is the special guest on the September 15th sailing (which is already fully booked). “Passengers will get a chance to meet and talk to Mr Berlusconi. For security reasons we can’t tell you exactly when and where he will join the ship,” a representative from a booking agency told The Telegraph.

Political analysts say the cruise appearance is likely part of Berlusconi’s plan to restart his political career ahead of next spring’s elections when current Prime Minister Mario Monti has vowed to step down.

“In between the ‘gala nights’, onboard cocktails and a guided excursion to Ephesus, Mr Berlusconi is expected to ruminate on Italian politics, the state of the economy and the prospects of a return to power for his People of Freedom (PDL) party,” The Telegraph reports. “There is speculation that he may even take female passengers for a spin on the dance floor, although given the controversy over the “bunga bunga” parties held at his mansion in Milan, there may be no invites to private parties back in his personal cabin.”

In 2000, Berlusconi he hired a cruise ship to travel around Italy campaigning. The next year he was elected prime minister for the second time.

Who said there are no second acts (or 4th or 5th) in Italian politics?
